Shopping thoughts...and a mini GIVEAWAY!

When I got got back from the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M party, I had a thought consuming my mind...Are we such consumer beings by nature? Is is it a feeling we get because our society has bred us that way? Let me draw you the picture here. I am at the party, having fun, mingling, finally meeting in person some of my favorite bloggers. I am confident that the collection is not my cup of tea -too huge for my kind of taste. So, I do not wish to buy anything from it. Until...a fellow blogger comes and tells me that she is going for the candy-wrap clutch (you know the bag I am talking about! If not, check here). And within a matter of minutes, I see a seriously numbered group of girls jumping for that specific clutch! That was the moment I started thinking about the bag...and after such a "propaganda" going on before my eyes, I unintentionally started looking for it, but most importantly, I started wanting it. I didn't really got the bag, but that's not even important. This whole story made me think about consumerism and about how plasmatic our needs are. How strong is the effect of an advertisement or the effect of a significant proportion of people desiring to obtain a product? Have you ever thought about this? Similar thoughts rarely hit me, and when they do, they don't last. My empty wallet can verify that...! But is it just me that gets affected by all this? And should I feel guilty of wanting almost everything I see?
